Welcome to the August edition of the aelf Monthly Digest! Let's recap what went down in the past month: advancements in aelf’s technology, highlights ecosystem development, events, and Web3 industry insights.

Technology

1. aelf AI Chatbot, Now Live!

Noticed something different about our aelf website? That's right, it's our newly launched aelf AI Chatbot that's hanging out at the bottom corner. This is the fruition of our partnership with ChainGPT, whom we have worked hip-to-hip in training and refining the AI chatbot.

If you're new to aelf and wish to learn more about what we offer for users and developers, you only have to ask it a simple question: 'What is aelf?'. And it'll do the rest.  

If you're up for it, you could even ask what aelf would be if it were a superhero. The answer might just surprise you!

2. aelf v1.10.1 Upgrade

aelf Mainnet has successfully completed an upgrade to v1.10.1 on 22 August 2024. aelf v1.10.1 has whitelisted the Groth16 and Poseidon libraries to enable the execution of ZK-proof-related methods in smart contracts.

This enhances privacy and security by allowing transactions to be verified without revealing sensitive information, while also improving efficiency and scalability of the network. We appreciate the support from all of the aelf block producers and full nodes to make this upgrade happen!

3. aelfscan: Faster, Simpler, Mobile-friendlier

aelfscan, the dedicated explorer for the aelf blockchain, is now officially available. Designed with user-friendliness in mind, aelfscan simplifies on-chain tracking data, including wallet balances, transaction records, and more.

In August, several features were optimised; we increased page loading speed and improved mobile compatibility. This ensures a smooth experience across all devices. With the update, aelfscan now allows account abstraction (AA) wallet users to view all transactions within their accounts.

Beyond data queries, aelfscan also acts as a gateway to the entire aelf ecosystem, showcasing trending projects for users to explore.

4. A Warm Welcome to TMRWDAO's New Blog, Today!

Tomorrow DAO (TMRWDAO) has shifted Mediums. Now housed under its own website, check out TMRWDAO's fresh skin, and get the latest insights on decentralised governance, project updates, cross-industry collaborations, and the aelf ecosystem.

Follow TMRWDAO on X too, so you don't miss out on timely updates like this one: August saw the launch of Votigram, TMRWDAO's new Telegram bot that lets you participate in voting and earn USDT rewards.

Ecosystem

AwakenSwap, S-CAT: Telegram Bots Now Live

Since the launch of Telegram's Mini Apps, Web3 projects have been integrating into the newly branded super app to connect with messaging app users. AwakenSwap and S-CAT joined the fray in August; with their respective Telegram bots now live, AwakenSwap users can perform key functions like viewing market data, trading and swapping on Telegram, and players on S-CAT get to interact with their feline digital collectibles directly on the Telegram game bot.

Forest's New Webpage

TMRWDAO isn't the only one with the new fit. Also part of the aelf ecosystem, Forest has unveiled a sleeker homepage interface that's more than just skin-deep. The fuzzy search has been made case-insensitive for a more efficient searching experience, and the mobile UI has also been jazzed up for smoother navigation.

AeFinder

AeFinder completed several version updates in the August release. Check out the details:

  • AeFinder CLI tool: With the release of this cool, it's made easier for developers to deploy and upgrade AeFinder App services
  • Enhanced developer documentation: We provided detailed guides to help developers quickly get started with AeFinder App service development
  • Improved service stability: This was done by optimising blockchain data push checks and batch storage
  • Declutter and defray: Removed unnecessary data to reduce storage costs for the service

AetherLink

In August, AetherLink undertook the following major developments to enhance overall performance, all of which have been deployed on the Testnet:

  • Expanded Datafeeds task types to include PlainDataFeeds, which support incremental data updates and enable on-chain triggering capabilities
  • Implemented a TraceId feature in the contract to index the Task ID, simplifying task management within the contract

Additionally, AetherLink is preparing for significant upcoming developments:

  • Automation now supports two triggering methods: Cron and Log, both accessible on the Testnet
  • The development progress of the AI oracle has already supported AI chat and graphic generation capabilities on-chain, and it will soon extend its support to other on-chain AI scenarios within upper-layer application contracts

Events

aelf, Portkey, and AwakenSwap Talk Shop With Panelists on How It Pays to Have AI in Decentralised Finance

We had a field day with AMAs in August! Starting with Crypto Poolz, a marketing platform that supports and connects early-stage Web3 projects, we saw Portkey and AwakenSwap participate in an AMA with them to discuss real-world applications of Web3 wallets and crypto payments, and how they eliminate commonly faced issues in cross-border transactions.

We then moved on to Metahub Finance's roundtable to explore some of the most innovative AI solutions that have been introduced to DeFi infrastructures. One such solution that came up is how AI is integral in flagging suspicious activities and scams that have been plaguing platforms and users.

Our representatives from Portkey and AwakenSwap also opined on the state of Web3 DeFi wallets, and the stark differences between them and traditional fiat digital wallets, in an AMA with Sands Casino. Portkey went further to provide insights on the Web3 gaming landscape today in an AMA with Metarush, a free-to-play game that involves battles in a cosmic multiverse.

As we continue to make strides as a layer 1 AI blockchain (spot the aelf AI chatbot that's officially up and running on our website!), we discussed the trends of AI and its role in blockchain in an 'ASK AELF ANYTHING' with NAWS, Pastel Network and Nuklai. Our panelists peeled back the curtains on how they integrated AI into various facets of their businesses, such as NAWS's AI digital content marketplace.
