Earlier today, our internal monitoring systems detected an unauthorized anomalous smart contract attempting to execute overflow and privilege escalation operations.
Immediate Actions & Current Status User asset safety and network stability are our absolute top priorities. To proactively eliminate any potential risk, our team acted immediately:
- Temporary Network Pause: All Block Producer (BP) nodes have been instructed to pause operations to ensure that all on-chain assets and the network remain completely safe.
- Network Upgrade & Hotfix: Our team is actively implementing a network-wide upgrade and deploying a critical hotfix to disable the affected mechanisms.
- Comprehensive External Audit: We have engaged top-tier external smart contract and security auditing partners to conduct an exhaustive review of this situation and perform a full assessment across the aelf network.
Since the launch of the aelf mainnet, the network has operated reliably for over 5 consecutive years without interruption. This marks our very first emergency maintenance pause. We deeply regret any inconvenience this temporary suspension may cause our users, developers, and ecosystem partners, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and support.
